3+ lipstick colours to try this fall/winter

I can't lie, I'm no expert when it comes to beauty. Heck, I'm probably the last person you should ask. My morning ritual consists of four fool-proof steps: wash and moisturize my face, fill in my brows (punishment for years of over plucking), and maybe a little mascara, depending on how much time I have. Don't judge.

Having just confessed my non-beauty beauty ritual, I should add that I do love me a good lippy-lip-stick every now and again. And I think I've found the three most perfect shades that'll carry me right through all of the holiday parties and events this season.

This lip kit from MAC Cosmetics  is where it's at. First, it's their famous lip glass (remember that?!) so it offers just the right amount of sheen, without a high intensity colour pop. And second, it's only $35 (a $74 value,) and comes with a metallic rose gold mini case with a sequin pom.

Okay, so if you haven't already tried a barely there neutral, then you don't know what you're missing. Keep in mind, there's no one-size fits all when it comes to neutrals, but the one offered in the kit (called Holiday Darling) is a mid-tone pinky nude, making a bit more universally flattering.

For all you fashion-loving mamas, you know metallics are all the rage. Included in the kit is a pale pink with just a hint of glimmer, called Go for Pretty. It's the perfect in-between shade for looking like you're wearing make up, but is still tame enough for mid-morning grocery store milk runs.

The kit's final shade is Be a Little Naughty. A nice, moody wine colour seriously brings the best outta me because A) wine and B) it's friendly and fierce. The perfect power shade for dressing up. I also bought a matching lip liner to this shade to intensify the colour a smidge. (Side note: autocorrect just tried to change smidge to smudge, but that's not a good look when talkin' lipstick.)

Bonus colour: This coppery red matte lip hue is a stand-out. Werk it.
